Apple Music Festival. The concept is simple. One act on one stage for one night. One night during which one extremely influent act from the current music scene agrees to come and perform in one of London's most mythic music venue: the Roundhouse. The Apple Music Festival can be seen as a massive music competition for the audience. A massive competition during which the tickets are... free! Entirely free.
Previously called the iTunes festival, the Apple Music Festival is strong for its reputation. High-quality gigs performs by high-profile acts during a very relaxed, yet remarkably professional, night made the festival become this highly demanded place to be invited to. All of these facts make each gig become this sort of private party among friends during which you feel special. Both audience and organisers, along with Apple employees who work at the festival, evolve in this extremely positive atmosphere in which "having fun" is not a need anymore, but a state of mind.
And this was in this private party that Carrie Underwood, and her very talented musicians, performed on Monday night. In this wonderful London venue, where hundreds of people gathered, the American country-singer offered an amazing show to her audience. The concert was perfect on so many levels: the music was great, the musicians were so talented that you could only enjoy the performance - and want for it never to stop, and the venue, small but majestic, along with that dance of lights, offered this coziness that was key element to make that night even more enjoyable. Whether they were fans, for 10 years or newly converted, or just gig goers and music lovers, people from the crowd enjoyed the show in a union of positivity, smiles and happiness. People were dancing, laughing, singing along; everyone had had to find motivation to go through their Monday and found the perfect occasion to relax.
This was the first time that I had the chance to see Carrie Underwood live, and I have to admit that she is a wonderful performer. Kind and talented, she engaged with her audience from the first moment she appeared on stage to the last. She managed to engage with us in a way that even the non-country-music fans had a little touch of sadness in their eyes when she announced her last song of the night. Carrie Underwood did a wonderful performance, which met people's expectations - and the high reputation of the Apple Music Festival. Well done!
