For many years now, the British royal family has become this real-life fairy-tale family that people are addicted to. Compared many times on the internet to Disney characters, each member of the family attracts the attention of the paparazzi and people of the entire world every time they step out of one of the royal properties. Even though the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are the obvious biggest attraction in the family, the interest of the journalists and people around the planet has grown in four specific members: the Cambridges.
Back in 2010 when Prince William announced his engagement to his long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton, the entire world fell instantly in love for this young lady the British media had followed in the streets of London for years. With the official announcement came the unofficial comparison between the future Duchess of Cambridge and her late mother-in-law, the very famous and loved Diana.
And this is when the comparison between the Cambridges and William's parents started to take abnormal proportions.

At first, it started with articles comparing the looks of Diana's and the one of Kate's entitled "The Looks Kate Middleton Which Got Inspired By Lady Di" which appeared in many publications and many languages. Every now and then, the two women linked by one man are being compared on everything and anything: fashion, charities they support, events they assist, etc. - as if the pressure on Kate's shoulders was not big enough.
However, since the heir to the throne was born, everything went too far. It went too far on the journalistic side, as comparing the Cambridges to the Wales always sales, especially in women's magazines, but strangely enough, it went too far from the royal family's side as well.
Every little event the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge assist with their children - or Prince George only - is a form of real-life "Throwback Thursday" into William's childhood.
When Princess Charlotte was born last May, they over acted the entrance of the little Prince George meeting his new sister at Lindo Wing when his exist was made in the most secret way. This attracted a lot of attention from the media and affection from the world. Three decades ago, the same situation happened when little Prince William met his baby brother Prince Harry for the very first time.
In June of this year, Prince George assisted to his great-grand-mother's first birthday celebration in London: Trooping the Colour. Even though many compared him to his uncle Harry because of the photo below, the ressemblance between William (being hold by his father, Charles) and George (being hold by his father, William) is actually quite disturbing. Both child were wearing the exact same outfit 30 years apart.

Many articles, tweets or status online relates the cuteness of this "random" situations, however strangely perturbing they can be. So why would the royal family decide to recreate William's childhood through George's life? Why is it so important to include the past into the present? Is this very healthy for Prince George? Will the ghost of Lady Di eternally live with Kate?
Is this just another way of saying that there is a continuity in the royal family?
Have a good day,
xx
